Meet the Speakers
Brian Ogilvie, PhD
VP of Scientific Consulting, BioIVT
Dr. Brian Ogilvie is the VP of Scientific Consulting at BioIVT where he leads a team that advises clients on in vitro drug-drug interaction studies and program strategy. He received a Ph.D. in toxicology from the University of Kansas Medical Center. He has published various research articles and book chapters, and has been an invited speaker at numerous drug development conferences.
Benoit Cox, PhD
Senior Scientist, UCB Biopharma
Dr. Benoit Cox works as an ADME Senior Scientist at UCB Biopharma where he supports projects across discovery and development, from an in vitro angle. Benoit joined UCB in 2019 as a postdoctoral scientist, where he explored and implemented organ-on-chip technology to predict drug safety and ADME properties. Benoit holds a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, which he obtained at the University of Leuven in Belgium. He also holds a PhD in Biomedical Sciences, focused on the development of 3D organoid models from the pituitary gland.
Karissa Cottier, PhD
Senior Scientist, UCB Biopharma
Dr. Karissa Cottier is a Senior Scientist, at BioIVT. Dr. Cottier earned her PhD in medical pharmacology at University of Arizona where she focused on drug delivery in migraine headache model. In her post-doctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins University Karissa utilized molecular and histology-based assays in an in vitro model to study cerebral malaria. We at BioIVT were pleased that Karissa decided to join our team in our lab in Baltimore Maryland following her post-doc. She has contributed to numerous projects, and importantly led our program to develop high-purity Kupffer cells as well as investigate new applications for our HEPATOPAC and HEPATOMUNE cultures.
Grant Churchill, PhD
Professor of Chemical Pharmacology, University of Oxford
Dr. Grant Churchill is a professor of chemical pharmacology at the University of Oxford and a founding scientist with the startup IntraBio. He delights in both research and teaching and was awarded ‘Most Acclaimed Lecturer’ in the Medical Sciences Division. His research is cell signalling and drug discovery has produced chemical tools, drugs and even publications in glamour journals. He obtained a BSc in Agriculture and MSc in Crop Science from the University of Saskatchewan, and a PhD in Biochemistry from the University Minnesota. He then moved to the University of Oxford and can’t seem to leave.
Maciej Czerwinski, PhD
Director of Consulting, BioIVT
