BIOIVT EXPANDS ITS BIOSPECIMEN PORTFOLIO IN SUPPORT OF NEUROSCIENCE RESEARCH
BioIVT Introduces New Center for NeuroExcellence
BioIVT, a global research partner and biospecimen solutions provider for drug and diagnostic development is proud to introduce our new Center for NeuroExcellence. This endeavor was made possible through the recent acquisition of PrecisionMed, a prominent supplier of high-quality human biological material for drug discovery, biomarker research, and in vitro diagnostics.
Impact on Neuroscience Research
As a Center for NeuroExcellence, BioIVT offers neurology researchers a single-vendor solution offering access to a comprehensive, diverse inventory of difficult-to-collect biofluid samples from populations with neurodegenerative diseases.
By combining BioIVT’s global clinical network with PrecisionMed’s specialized neuro-disease specific collections, researchers globally now have access to the most comprehensive and readily available portfolio of neuro-related disease biospecimens. This opens new frontiers for researchers worldwide, offering them access to unparalleled resources and expertise that can fuel innovation and help drive groundbreaking advancements.
Breadth of Portfolio
What differentiates BioIVT’s Center of NeuroExcellence is its capacity to not only maintain a large, diverse inventory of difficult-to-collect biofluid samples but also its capability to source prospective collections from diverse populations and remnant controls when needed.
Longitudinal CSF & Matching Blood, Plasma or Sera
Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) plays a crucial role in pharmaceutical and biotech research due to its unique composition and its direct connection to the central nervous system. PrecisionMed, a BioIVT company, focuses primarily on prospective longitudinal collections of CSF with matching blood, plasma, or sera, and our sample collections include CSF from the following donor cohorts:
- Alzheimer's Disease
- Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)
- Mild Cognitive Impairment
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Multiple System Atrophy (MSA)
- Parkinson's Disease
- Rare Dementias
- Major Depressive Disorder
- Schizophrenia
- Diabetic Neuropathy
- TruNormal® Control CSF Samples
TruNormal® Control CSF Samples
Our TruNormal® neuroscience samples are from donors with normal cognition, no history and no family history of neurological or neuropsychiatric disease and no neurological complaint. Samples are prospectively collected for research use and are non-remnant samples.
Clinical Cerebrospinal Fluid Collections
Look to BioIVT for expertise in the processes required for the ethical acquisition of biospecimens that cover a wide range of disease states and the protocols needed for the production of reliable data.
The surge in research and development activities focused on personalized medicine coincides with the rapidly decreasing cost of human genome mapping and a greater understanding of disease heterogeneity. As a researcher, you struggle with high attrition rates based on a lack of clinical efficacy. It is crucial to your studies to utilize ethically collected, well-characterized human specimens and comprehensive tissue-based research services.
Working with local Neurologists and Anesthesiologists, we can recruit donors and collect CSF from individuals across a vast area of disease indications as well as normal donors. We are able to procure greater than 10mL from each donor.
Our readily available CSF samples are provided with clinical data that has been collected following a strict and standardized clinical data process. All specimens are reviewed for IRB approval. Some donors are available with associated tissues.
We can also offer prospective collections to provide the right specimen from the right cohort with the right data! Reach out today to discuss your specific needs with a BioIVT specialist.
Remnant CSF Collections
CSF samples are collected from patients who required testing for medical reasons. After diagnostic tests are performed, the remaining fluid is procured for research purposes. No patient identifying information is provided and the patient remains anonymous; we are unable to obtain any additional information regarding the patient than what is initially provided. Remnant samples are approximately 1-2 mL per donor. Pooled remnant samples are also available.
